An Irresistible Invite

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”  Matthew 11:28-30

To-do lists, deadlines, expectations (from others or self–imposed) left unchecked lead to exhaustion.  I know; I’ve been experiencing it quite a bit lately.  My tendency is to think “I’ll rest when ‘it’s’ done.”  Problem is there is always something else to be done; that’s the nature of life in this world.  There’s always something I’d like to get done or someone’s pulling on me to do.  In the middle of a sermon on Sunday, God gave me a rhema word He’s been repeating ever since: the yoke He gives me is to rest and my only burden is to believe in Him who God has sent.  The Holy Spirit will lead me in the necessary activity for each day, including when and how to rest.  The Great Physician has ordered rest and I am happy to follow doctor’s orders (let all the doctors say, AMEN)!
