Have you ever gotten so busy looking after your children that they become an item on your daily “to do” list? That might sound “sacrilegious” for a mother but honestly I’ve had times where I got so caught up in what I needed to do for them that I found my children burdensome! I started to notice it this past school year, our first homeschool year. Blame it on my temperament and perfectionist tendencies (thank God He is at work in me) but over-achievement got the best of me as I tried to educate my children. I asked Daddy God (as my daughter and I refer to Him) to shed His light on the situation and help me simply enjoy my children again. First, He didn’t scold me. Rather, He reminded me how much He delights in me as He takes care of all my needs. Then He assured me that His Son has already finished all the things I’m trying to do for my children. There is nothing else to do but cast my care and enter His rest. Picture that famous big red button right here! Well, today was as busy as any other summer day: activities to ward off summer slide, household chores, track practice and travel preparations. Yet I’m happy to report that without trying or worrying I thoroughly enjoyed my children!
Love them, lead them and leave the outcome to JESUS…notice love comes first 😉
