I’m Here With You

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. Isaiah 43:2a

My kids just finished up another round of swim lessons.  They made quite a bit or progress considering a gap between sessions so…money well spent!  It was so nice to see my boys finally ENJOY the water.  My sweet girl has always been drawn to water (maybe because she was born in California) and even when she felt timid, her excitement pushed her to learn the next skill.

During her last lesson I marveled at her back float, mainly because mine is terrible.  She was so calm, even as the water lapped up to the outer corners of her eyes.  Her back  arched, she was totally relaxed.  It was no tranquil pool; there were several other classes going on at the same time!  Initially her instructor stood right behind her gently supporting her back.  Then I noticed he maintained position, but took his hand away and continued talking with her.   I admired her poise!

Today, the Lord reminded me of that visual with regards to this verse.  I meditate on verses 1-4 often, but I’ve always pictured the water scenario as wading through rising waters or swimming in rough waters.   Not once, did I envision floating!  My husband has always said floating is the easiest position regardless of water conditions and the Lord showed me the rest aspect of it.

He wants me to rest, regardless of what’s going on around me.  To rest, because He is right there with me, ready to lift me if circumstances threaten to overwhelm.  In that moment, such peace came over me with this new awareness of the dimensions of His love for me.  What a Savior!  Now about improving my back float…
