At age 75 Abraham’s father died. All his father’s household and possessions would fall into Abraham’s care. Being the custom, Abraham would’ve understood his duty.
However, God called Abraham to leave all he knew. To leave the comfortable, the familiar; all the people, customs, and responsibilities he’d been prepared for, to follow Him. No details, just, “Walk with me and I’ll show you.”
You know what else He called Abraham away from? From dependence on self and all he knew, to walk with a faithful God into what He knew. God called Abraham to a life depending on what God would supply him. God called Abraham to live by grace through faith and totally changed his life…and ours.

A life of faith in Christ is, by definition, no confidence in our flesh (understanding, effort, or abilities).
