Why Write THIS Book?

That’s a great question asked by a friend to the Vine, Lesa Rose.  Recently, tucked in a comment, she asked why I wrote DADDY’s Girl Forever: Come Home to the Truth About God’s Heart Towards You.  I realized, then, my book announcement didn’t quite cut it and I needed to bare the book’s soul, and mine.

I always considered myself a daddy’s girl.  My dad is such my hero: strong, resilient, and responsible, with an intelligence far beyond his 5th grade equivalent education.  Who wouldn’t love an immigrant, blue-collar worker who worked hard to make sure his family had a comfortable life?  But every human hero fails, like the rest of us.  I never noticed, though, as the little girl often curled up on his lap.

The dynamic started changing during elementary school.  Everything became performance focused, less about our relationship.  My father became increasingly hard to please academically, with warm cuddles eventually replaced with quick hugs.  You can imagine how devastating that was for a girl who’d previously and effortlessly felt like her daddy’s delight.  —excerpt from DADDY’s Girl Forever

This new reality left me feeling exposed and vulnerable, but what’s a girl to do?  Well, when you grow up in NY, the daughter of immigrants you learn to suck it up and push through!  Using my father’s sparing approval, I fueled myself for the fight called life.  Like a warrior I pushed myself to excel in school, despite my father’s doubts I could ever be a physician.  I fought and won, I thought, until I realized my achievement didn’t win me his complete approval.  It just left me tired…

This warrior began hearing the cry of the little girl inside me, louder and louder, until I could no longer ignore her.  She never stopped needing her daddy, but needed her DADDY all the more.  In the middle of outlining a book God gave me for mothers, I heard Him say, “My daughters need to enjoy me as Father before they can receive my message as mothers.”

As DADDY God poured out His heart to me, He confronted wrong beliefs I had about Him, largely because of my dynamic with my dad.  Writing this book wasn’t easy. Overwhelmed, I cried often at the keyboard, both in amazement and in mourning the distance I felt in my relationship with God the Father for more than 20 years. How exciting to discover my DADDY God loved me more than I ever realized, AND He intended on making it plain to me!  He still is…

Do you know the beauty of the whole thing?  This book isn’t just for me.  He wrote it through me, to me, AND to every woman.  Even if your relationship with your dad is awesome, it’s just the appetizer.  It in no way compares to a dynamic relationship with DADDY God although, ideally, a good introduction.

DADDY’s Girl Forever is a love letter from God to His girls.  If you’ve never been a daddy’s girl, or you’ve “lost your seat” on your dad’s lap, don’t despair!  You never lost your seat on DADDY God’s lap; it’s available forever.  The God who made you, loves you, and longs for you to enjoy Him as DADDY.

It’s never too late for ANY woman to find identity, acceptance, and unconditional love in the ultimate DADDY-daughter relationship with God!

NOTE: I’m celebrating the freedom DADDY God has given me in Christ (as shared in my book)!  I invite YOU to join me.  The E-book is now $3.99, for the rest of July!

    1. So glad we’ve crossed paths Renee! In the book, other women share their experiences as well, some of whom had no relationship with their father. They testify of the hurdles and how DADDY God helps them overcome. I’m sure the message will bless you.

Do let me know what you think of the book and share your thoughts in an Amazon review. Your perspective might just be what another DADDY’s girl needs to hear!

Thanks for your encouragement, friend. ~Vanessa
