Legacy Hidden in Figures

My family and I just came back from seeing Hidden Figures and my heart is full.

In it I saw the shoulders a 6-year-old girl from the southeast Bronx stood on when she decided she’d become a doctor. Nothing around her gave her permission to believe it possible and many spoke in doubt against it, yet here she is all grown up, a physician, by the grace of God.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Phil 4:13 

I thank God for women, who look like me, whose shoulders I stood on, even in my ignorance of their existence. I thank God for Jesus’ shoulders; He bore us all. And I thank God for the “greater works” greater woman my little girl shall become.
