The children of Israel, uncomfortable with the unknowns of freedom, longed for the familiar certainty of slavery. Moving forward into the unknown with God, though filled with better promises, seemed scarier than staying defeated.
Maybe that’s why we can’t put confidence in our feelings and perspectives? Our flesh always prefers the familiar.
Right. And the familiar provides the delusion of control.
