Lord Jesus, You said, You didn’t come to be served but to serve.
But we don’t believe that.
When You invite us to join You in what You’re doing we take off and get busy—treating it more like an assignment than an invitation.
We think more highly of ourselves than we ought to. And while we mean well, we wear ourselves out, working from our empty flesh instead of a full spirit.
And just like You did Martha, You remind us we’re worried about many things when only one thing is needful—to sit at your feet and drink deeply from You.
Our well is limited, we run dry quickly.
So, You promise living water to those who drink deeply from your well—water springing up in us to bless many.
Give us that water. We humble ourselves, like Mary, admitting we need You more than we imagine You need us.
Help us receive from You.
We are doing more than ever these days and without You we can do none of it. We surrender our weakness and self-imposed timetables to You in exchange for your strength and perfect timeline.
And where we’ve run ahead, we fall back and follow your lead.
It’s in your glorious name, Jesus, we pray. Amen.
Inspired by Luke 10:41-42.
Here at Vine Life Faith, we pray God’s Word to experience God’s will because His words are the only ones He’s obligated to keep. While we pray inspired by a particular verse, the prayer references multiple verses as the Lord leads. You’re welcome to share this prayer and if it blesses you or someone you know—say so in the comments below. God bless you!
The Vine Life is living by faith in a healthy community. “Healthy” is the tricky part because what you believe either breaks or builds you and your relationships. Connect with me, ladies, for resources that move you from bitter to better.
