If a tree falls in the forest and there’s no one there to hear it, does it really make a sound?
I remember a bunch of us kids tossing around the question and contrary to many opinions that day, I immediately thought of course it made a sound. It’s just that no one heard it.
DOES ANYONE HEAR ME?
I’ve thought of that tree many times in my life when people ignored, dismissed, or doubted my words. I made a sound every single time—it just wasn’t a frequency they heard.
But my sound waves still reverberate. And so do yours.
It takes courage to speak, though, especially when your words confront someone else’s comfortable narrative.
