IT’S OKAY, I GOT YOU

DADDY!

And there he was with his head tilted to the side and a matching sideways grin, hand outstretched, “You’re okay, I got you. Let’s do it again.” We did. Till I got the hang of it.

But bikes aren’t the only way you skin your knees in this world. Life is full of people and opportunities that throw you off balance or flat out knock you down. And now that you’re older, it’s absurd to call your daddy every time you take a tumble. Right?

Well, it depends on what daddy we’re talking about. Maybe your father was never around to raise you, much less teach you how to ride a bike. And maybe he taught you, but he’s of the age now that he needs your help.

Or maybe the thought of a grown woman with a career and a family of her own to care for, calling out to her daddy when life roughs her up, sounds ridiculous. Besides, what can your father do about it, anyway?

Your father? Probably nothing. But God the Father? The possibilities are endless.

I’M HERE

He’s as near as your next breath and when you use it to call Him, it’s never wasted.

The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry.

Psalm 34:15

He’s listening for your cry—your confession that you need Him. That with all of your smarts, strategies, and strength, you don’t know it all, you can’t do it all and sometimes it’s all just too much.

Every woman has a little girl in her who needs a place where she can drop her responsibilities and be vulnerable enough to show the scrapes on her knees—with no judgment.

A refuge, a fortress, where she can hear and be healed.

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles.

Psalm 34:17

AN AUTOMATIC FIX?

No friend, I’m not even going to lie to you. Sometimes it’s immediate, but deep wounds take time to heal. And sometimes it feels like DADDY God left you on the stove at a rolling boil and got lost in some other activity.

But even in those waiting moments, He makes His strength perfect in your weakness. He reveals Himself to you in a new way. And He gives you grace to find joy in His presence.

When DADDY God heals you, you gain a fresh sense of the great delight He takes in you, how He quiets you with His love, even rejoicing over you with singing. Secure He’s with you, you have new courage to face your fears.

But depending on God the Father to that degree is tough if your relationship with your dad left you fending for yourself. You don’t know what it is to cry out and be cared for with the strength and security dads are famous for. And if that’s left you jaded, I have something for you.
