A God Idea

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5

First week of school down!  Amazing what a difference a year makes especially when you get some wisdom under your belt.  I don’t mean wisdom from experience (be it mine or anyone else’s).  I mean the wisdom of God; the difference between a good idea and a God idea.

God’s wisdom is precious; He doesn’t just toss it for any who might want it.  You have to ask Him for it and when you do He is more than happy to oblige!  Our first year of homeschool was a little frazzled because it was new and I worried that we wouldn’t “finish” all that the curricula covered.  I wanted to do right by my kids but my anxiety crowded out that “still small voice”.  It made for a year more stressful than it needed to be.  This year HAD to be different, totally dependent on God’s leading to bring us to a successful end.

I’m thankful for other homeschool moms who share what school looks like for their families.  As I prepared for this school year I found www.thehomeschoolmomblog.wordpress.com particularly helpful.  While there’s a lot of good stuff she shared, I had to use God’s wisdom to know which, if any, of those things would work for my family.  Not every good idea is a God idea for my situation, but I had a couple light bulb moments while reading her blog.  We started with just language and math last week and will be up to full schedule by week 3.  Easing our way in has been sooo nice!

Of course God gave me some direct wisdom which was to decrease the amount we tackle daily in each subject.  I think last year I was concerned that we wouldn’t be “doing enough” if we followed the schedule provided for language and math so I amped it up a bit.  What a mistake that ending up biting me in the behind!

These are just a few of the ways God has led us so far this school year and He’s given me ideas and insights daily.  What a burden off my shoulders when I trust Him to direct our paths!
