Who Do You Say He Is?

I like a sampler, don’t you?  That whole “try before you buy” is an attractive concept that the western world goes nuts over.  Some people are really big on sampling food offerings at the big box stores.

Some of us enjoy bath and beauty product samples.   The other day QVC offered a sampler of the brand I use to clean and condition mine and my daughter’s hair. The show host raved about the opportunity to avoid commitment while trying out several formulations to see which one works for you.   It occurred to me that we tend to apply that concept to many areas of our lives.  We’re at least tempted to do so anyway.

It’s fine for material things, like food and beauty products, but not your soul. Recently, we lost a music legend.  Prince was a musical genius, not just creative, but innovative also. His sound has forever impacted the music industry and he’s certainly left a void.  The night of his passing I watched the interview he did with Larry King back in 1999.  During that interview he, as he had before, made frequent mention of his faith in God.  There are many entities people call “god,” but unless they make reference to their personal relationship with Jesus Christ, we don’t know if they’re referring to the one true God (see John 17:3). Prince didn’t mention Jesus in that interview, but I hope he knew Him as Savior before he passed.  #beautiful-loved-and-blessed

Prince left us far too soon, but he had, as all of us do, the opportunity in life to choose where we’ll spend eternity.  I respect the free will God gave all of us and if you choose to believe there are many gods or more than one way to God, you have that right.  But allow me to share this with you: there’s only one way to the true and living God…

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”  John 14:6

Jesus loves you so much, He paid for all the ways you fall short, with His life…

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  John 3:16

And God loved you long before you ever thought to seek Him.

This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.  1 John 4:10, NLT

Jesus is the ONLY way to the one true God; the only one worth trying trusting.
