Faint Not

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.  Galatians 6:9

Slow start, but we’re picking up steam.  It had gotten to where I wondered if I heard God correctly about homeschooling.  But God…He is so faithful.  He gives wisdom to those who ask, even if they ask with an attitude!

This week we started our days with what some might call electives (Spanish, typing) and/or our group subjects (Bible, PE, Art, History, Science), depending on the day’s schedule.  So far this has been a winner!  Leaving Language and Math last concerned me, since my kids typically lose steam as the day goes on.  Surprisingly, the group time and their progress in the electives energized the boys.

Today was particularly long.  I had to run an unexpected errand this morning which interrupted our flow.  I considered ending around our usual time and rolling the rest into tomorrow, but thought better of it.  By midafternoon, my oldest son finished what I assigned him and decided to have more typing practice!  My youngest son worked until late afternoon on a writing assignment.  He HATED writing last year but today he wrote his best piece yet.  More than anything, I’m grateful for the integrity my boys showed. They worked later than usual, with a great attitude and went above and beyond what I assigned.  They enjoyed learning which both blessed and encouraged me (and the smile on their faces when I shared that with them…priceless).
