Let’s pray for a counter-intuitive way to counter-punch the enemy of your soul!
Joy, Joy JOY! Father, it is your will for us to walk in joy. Jesus has done everything to make that possible. He took our sin AND its punishment.
And unlike a boomerang, your wrath never comes back on us.
You finished it, and You put an end to the enemy coming against us—successfully. You rendered him powerless! All he has left is the mouth he uses to accuse us and drop deceptive thoughts in our minds.
But joy is a weapon!
It’s the evidence we trust and believe in what Jesus did for us.
And in joy, we enjoy the abundant life Jesus came to give us. This joy isn’t a feeling. It’s a choice. Help us choose joy, especially when life throws us frustrations and aggravations.
That’s why You tell us (1) sing, (2) shout, (3) be glad and (4) rejoice. These are acts of the will. So, we say “yes” in agreement with You knowing it invites the enemy’s attack.
Father we need the Holy Spirit’s help to withstand the attack of the enemy.
Pour out your oil of joy on us. Saturate us with it till we find the joy in things others around us cannot. Make us slippery, so the enemy has no place to grip us with fear and lies. Cause us to slip through his fingers, oh God. And send us forth in JOY all the days of our lives.
