As a deer pants for the streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. Where can I go and meet with You?
The wells of this world leave me wanting.
I drank from them so often and so long, and yet, they left me thirsty.
LORD, You are greater than even the well I inherited from my ancestors. While their understanding of You, their walk with You satisfied them, it leaves me thirsty for more.
Why am I downcast, in my soul? Why am I so disturbed within me?
Because I need more.
So, I put my hope in You, God. I will yet praise You my Savior and my God.
Because when I drink of the water You give, I will never thirst.
The water You give me becomes a fountain of water springing up to eternal life. And then out of my belly will flow living waters, watering many.
Give me that water Jesus, so I will never look to the wells of man again but tell them of the water I found instead.
I put my hope in You, Jesus. I praise You, my Savior and my God. To You belongs the glory now and forever. Amen.
