We know life and death is in the power of the tongue. And we know that it’s out of the abundance of our hearts that we speak. So, when You instruct us to guard our hearts above all else because our lives flow from it, we see your wisdom. And we thank You.
But we’ve gotten distracted with guarding our possessions and opinions instead.
We forget it’s the little foxes that spoil the vine. The words and actions of others from years ago or yesterday, malicious or misinterpreted, burning in our hearts till they spew out of our mouths.
Wake us up Father!
Help us hear our words and recognize they came from our hearts. We allowed wounding words to plant in the soil of our hearts because we weren’t paying attention. And now we’re eating the fruit of the words we’ve spoken.
Thoughts are seeds.
And while people toss them our way, we choose what we plant. So, Holy Spirit, teach us the truth about Jesus. Truth that roots out the lies and shuts the door behind them.
A double-minded person is unstable in every way.
So, we receive heart healing. We release those who offended us. We reject all bitterness. We refuse a victim mentality. And we recognize our wounds cloud our perception of others.
So, Lord, we desire your perspective on everything we experience.
It’s out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. So, we surrender our hearts to Jesus’ healing. And receive your grace to guard our hearts.
